🎒 What you need
- your cardboard machine from module 7
- the shared phone, briefly
- a big sheet of paper or flattened box, and a pen or charcoal
✋ Do this
- Choose ONE real problem you have actually seen: sorting good maize from bad, telling ripe mangoes from unripe, spotting a sick leaf.
- On your poster draw three boxes in a row: what goes IN, what the machine DECIDES, what comes OUT. Big drawings, few words.
- Train the phone on your two classes, using photos in sun and shade like you learned in module 6.
- Set up your cardboard machine beside it. Run ten real items through, start to finish, with the phone deciding and your flap moving.
- Write your score on the poster: 'Right 8 out of 10.' Be honest — an honest score is more impressive than a perfect one.
- Now demonstrate it to a grown-up in under two minutes, and take one photograph of the whole setup with you beside it. That photo is your proof.
💡 Why it works
You have now done every step a real engineer does: found a problem worth solving, chosen what the machine decides, trained it on your own data, tested it honestly, and explained it to someone who was not there. The cardboard is not the point. The thinking is the point, and the thinking is identical at any scale.
🔥 Challenge
Show your machine to someone who does this job for real — a farmer, a market trader, your grandmother. Ask them one question: 'What would make this actually useful to you?' Write their answer on the back of your poster.
