Capstone: Introduce Yourself Like You Mean It

Today you deliver a real spoken self-introduction in Chinese — the exact thing asked for at a scholarship interview or a first meeting with a Chinese trader.

你好,我叫… 我来自… 我在学中文。很高兴认识你。
Four sentences. This is a complete, genuine introduction that a Chinese speaker will recognise instantly.

🎒 What you need

✋ Do this

  1. Write out your own version of the four sentences, filling in your name and where you are from.
  2. Check every tone once against the audio, especially 很高兴认识你. Then put the phone away.
  3. Say the whole introduction out loud five times standing up, without notes.
  4. Now deliver it to a real person, face to face, with a handshake and eye contact. Do not stop and translate in the middle. If you stumble, keep going.
  5. Write the whole introduction out in characters on cardboard and hang it where you sleep. This is what you have built.
  6. Ask your listener one question afterwards: 请问,你叫什么名字? — and understand the answer.

💡 Why it works

A self-introduction is the highest-return piece of language in any course, because it is the only speech you will give again and again for years. Delivering it once, standing, to a live person, is what makes it available under pressure later.

🔥 Challenge

Deliver the introduction to somebody who actually speaks Mandarin and ask them for one correction. Just one.
