๐Ÿ’ฐ Real customers

What Will You Charge?

The price must cover what you spent, pay you for your time, and still feel fair to your customer.

๐Ÿ–๏ธ cost + โฑ๏ธ your time = ๐Ÿท๏ธ price
Two things go into a price. Never forget the second one.

๐ŸŽ’ What you need

โœ‹ Do this

  1. Write down everything one sign or one card costs you: the paper, the pen, the walk to the printing shop if you use one. Add it up. That is your cost.
  2. Write how long one takes you. Half an hour? Decide what your half hour is worth โ€” small, but not nothing.
  3. Add the two together. Look at the number. Ask three grown-ups: 'Would you pay this?' Adjust once, then stop adjusting.
  4. Practise saying it out loud in the mirror: 'One sign is [your price]. I can have it ready tomorrow.' No mumbling, no apologising.
  5. Ask Claude to help you write a five-line WhatsApp message announcing your shop. Read it aloud. If it does not sound like you, rewrite it in your own words.
  6. Write your price on a card and put it in your pocket. It goes with you everywhere now.

๐Ÿ’ก Why it works

Children usually price at zero because saying a number feels rude. But free work teaches customers that your work is worth nothing, and then they never pay. A price you can say without flinching is a skill you practise like a song. Some kids selling signs or cards earn a few dollars a week โ€” small, real, and honestly yours.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Challenge

Say your price to a stranger without looking at your feet.
