🎒 What you need

a stiff cardboard box
a marker, charcoal or chalk
a friend to test you

✋ Do this

Cut five big cards from the box. On each front write one trickster letter, huge: Р С Н В У.
On the back of each, draw the real sound as a picture clue: Р with a running person, С with a snake, Н with a nose, В with a van, У with a spoon of soup going 'ooo'.
Hold up each card, front first, and say the TRUE sound out loud. Do it ten times fast until the English answer stops jumping out first.
Now read these real words letter by letter: нос (n-o-s, nose), рука (r-u-k-a, hand), вода (v-o-d-a, water). Say each one aloud.
Line all five cards on a wall or a table where the family passes. Ask each person what they think Р says, then correct them. You are now the teacher.
Touch your nose and say нос. Touch your hand and say рука. Drink water and say вода.

💡 Why it works

The tricksters are the single biggest cause of slow Cyrillic reading, because your brain fires the English answer before you can stop it. Meeting them as a named group, early and on purpose, replaces that reflex instead of letting it become a habit you fight for years.

🔥 Challenge

Show a friend the word РОТ and let them read it as 'rot'. Then tell them it says 'rot' meaning mouth — and that they accidentally got it right.
