ВКЛ ⏻ on ВЫКЛ ⭘ off ОПАСНО ⚠️
🎒 What you need
- paper and a pen
- permission to look at equipment with an adult
- no touching live equipment
✋ Do this
- Learn the five words first and read each one aloud, letter by letter.
- Note the shortcuts: включить is often printed just as ВКЛ, and выключить as ВЫКЛ. On and off.
- Now go and look — with an adult, and without touching anything electrical. Generators, welders, pumps, old radios, medical equipment and machine tools are the places Cyrillic shows up.
- Copy any Cyrillic you find, exactly, onto your paper. Sound out every word you copied.
- If you find ОПАСНО anywhere, you have just read a genuine safety warning in Russian. Tell the adult with you what it means.
- Bring your paper back and read your finds aloud to somebody.
💡 Why it works
Technical Russian is a small, repetitive vocabulary that appears on real objects, which makes it both learnable and immediately useful. Reading a genuine warning label is also the first time the language does a job for you rather than the other way round.
🔥 Challenge
Find Cyrillic on one piece of equipment near you and be the only person present who can read it.
