๐ What you need
- one shared phone
- account holder
- notebook
- pen
- shoes
โ Do this
- Ask Claude: 'What should I find out about my competitors before starting this service?' Take its list of questions โ not its answers about your town, which it cannot know.
- Walk out with that list. Visit two people already doing something similar โ the printing shop, the older student, the stall next door. Ask politely and write real numbers: what they charge, how long they take, what they refuse to do.
- Where Claude guessed a price or a fact about your area, write GUESS next to it. Where a real person told you, write CHECKED. Count both columns.
- Find the gap: what do all of them do badly or refuse to do? That gap is where a newcomer with no money can win.
- Update your four boxes from module two with the real numbers you collected. Cross out the old ones, do not erase them โ you want to see how wrong you were.
- Write one paragraph: why a customer would choose me over the two people I visited.
๐ก Why it works
Claude was trained on text, so it is strong on general patterns and weak on this week's prices at your market. Used correctly it is a question generator and a thinking partner, and the field work stays yours. Mislabelling a guess as a fact is how young businesses set prices that quietly lose money for months.
๐ฅ Challenge
Come back with three real prices written in ink and the name of the person who told you each one.
