One Paying Customer

Sell one job, deliver it beautifully, and ask what you got wrong.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ ask โžก๏ธ ๐Ÿค yes โžก๏ธ ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ deliver โžก๏ธ โ“ 'what would you change?'
The whole business, once, at small scale, with one real human.

๐ŸŽ’ What you need

โœ‹ Do this

  1. Pick the single most likely person from your complaint notebook. Go to them in person, with your sample in your hand.
  2. Show, then ask: 'I do this. It costs [price]. Would you like one?' Then close your mouth and let them answer, however long the silence lasts.
  3. If yes, agree the price, the delivery day and exactly what they get. Write all three in your notebook and read it back to them so there is no argument later.
  4. Deliver early rather than late, and deliver it finished โ€” no 'I will fix that part tomorrow'.
  5. Ask the one question that improves everything: 'What would you change about this?' Write their answer word for word and do not defend yourself.
  6. Ask for one referral: 'Who else do you know who needs this?' Write the name down and go there next.

๐Ÿ’ก Why it works

The gap between a plan and a business is one person saying yes and handing over money. Delivering early builds the reputation that no advertising can buy in a small community, and the 'what would you change' question gets you honest information that a satisfied nod never will. Referrals are how a zero-capital business grows without spending on marketing.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Challenge

Deliver a day earlier than you promised and watch what it does to their face.
