🎒 What you need

cardboard and a marker
sand or chalk for the big versions

✋ Do this

Write each of the six letters huge in the sand and say its sound as you write it. Ж buzzes. Ш hisses. Ч is 'ch' as in 'church'. Ц is the 'ts' at the end of 'cats'.
Look at Ш and Щ side by side. The only difference is the little tail. Ш is 'sh', Щ is a longer, softer 'shch'.
Now decode the five words of this module letter by letter, out loud, slowly.
The hard one is женщина — zhen-shchi-na — woman. It contains both Ж and Щ. Write it five times by hand.
Make six cards, one per letter, and get somebody to hold them up at random while you call the sounds. Twenty correct in a row.
Write чай — chay — tea — on a card and stick it on the kettle or the tea tin. You will read it every day.

💡 Why it works

Unfamiliar shapes have no competing memory attached to them, so they stick faster than the lookalikes ever will. Handling them as their own group means the genuinely hard problem — the liars — gets the attention it deserves rather than being diluted.

Write женщина and dare anyone in the house to pronounce it. Then do it yourself, correctly, and enjoy it.
