Nǐ hǎo! Chinese

Every Chinese character started as a little picture — and you can draw them all.

Ages 7–128 modules 🪨 Starts with no device

Chinese looks like a wall of tiny drawings, and that is exactly what it is. A person walking. Three mountain peaks. The sun. Once you see the picture inside the character, you cannot un-see it. You will draw them in sand, shout them at your friends, and count goats in Chinese before this course is done.

Capstone: Your First Real Conversation

Today you stop practising Chinese and simply have a conversation in it, start to finish, with another human being.

你好!→ 你叫什么名字?→ 我叫… → 很高兴认识你!
For a parent or teacher

By the end your child will recognise about forty Chinese characters by sight, produce all four tones clearly, and hold a short spoken introduction with a Chinese speaker. Chinese traders, contractors and scholarship programmes are present across the continent, and a child who can greet someone properly in Mandarin is remembered.
